King's Scout Working Party

The King's Scout Working Party, or KSWP, is a national Scout Active Support Unit that supports a wide range of national events across the UK.

Who are you?

The King's Scout Working Party is a group of dedicated Queen's Scouts and King's Scouts who volunteer their time to support a wide range of national events across the country. We are widely respected, providing a reliable team at events and demonstrating the values behind the Scouting Top Awards (whilst having a lot of fun in the process!).

Are you the same as the QSWP?

Yes! We changed our name on 6th May 2023 to coincide with the coronation of King Charles III, but we are still the great team that you might have previously met as the Queen's Scout Working Party!

What do we do?

We support a wide range of national events across the UK; both formal and informal, and Scouting and non-Scouting. Below are some of the events we've supported over the past few years.

Day of Celebration and Achievement

We cover a range of roles at the national Day of Celebration and Achievement in Windsor each year, including marshalling, escorting VIPs, and supporting the admin teams.

Mud Run

We run some of obstacles at the Ferny Crofts Mud Run, such as the sponge throwing and paint run finish.

Jamborees

We've supported a wide range of Jamborees over the years, running a wide range of different activity zones for participants and helping out supporting the staff teams.

Festival of Remembrance

We help collect donations and hand out programmes at the Festival of Remembrance, and have provided people for the honour guard and Cenotaph Parade on Remembrance Sunday.

Gilwell Reunion

If you've been to Gilwell Reunion, then you've probably sampled our wares by visiting the Squiffy Woggle pub.

Your event?

We are always on the look out for more events, so get in touch with our Events Coordinator if you think we might be able to help at your event!

Who can join?

Any Queen's Scout Award or King's Scout Award holder over the age of 18 is eligible to join the KSWP. You will need to provide two references - one from someone who knows you within Scouting, and one from someone who knows you from outside of Scouting (e.g. through work).

What else do I need to know?

We expect members to attend at least 2 events a year (although we'd love to see you at more!). There is also an annual £5 membership fee (but do talk to us if this is an issue).

As well as the events that we support, the KSWP runs a number of socials throughout the year and they're a great chance to get to know each other!
